A ROBBERY that shocked local people in Phuket took place last evening (Sep. 17) with two foreigners chasing and stealing a 300,000 baht watch from an American man as he rode down a road, Amarin TV said this evening.
The crime occurred on Layan Soi 7 road, Cherngtalay subdistrict, Thalang district, with the two fully-clothed foreign men who had also covered their faces chasing the motorcycle-riding victim with their vehicle then crashing into him and causing him to fall.
The two men then got out of their vehicle, drew knives and threatened the victim in the middle of the road, snatched the watch from his wrist and fled.
The unidentified victim later said his attackers spoke clear English, believed to be European or Western, and likely followed him from Boat Avenue Market in Cherngtalay.
Police are investigating this robbery and going through CCTV clips from this area and the likely escape route. They are ready to coordinate with all units in urgently tracking down the perpetrators.
This incident shows the boldness of the robbers who do not fear the law and serves and a warning about safety even in popular tourist zones like Phuket.
