Allocation of cabinet seats completed: Anutin

PRIME MINISTER-ELECT Anutin Charnvirakul said this evening (Sep. 6) the allocation of cabinet seats is 100 percent finalised with all ministers-designate aware of the conditions and limitations and ready to work immediately after the oath-taking ceremony before His Majesty the King, Naewna newspaper and Amarin TV said.

Questioned about the position of defence minister during a press conference at Bhumjaithai Party headquarters, Anutin declined to disclose details, only saying that a Royal Decree appointing him prime minister has not yet been issued.

He insisted that he is not concealing anything and that when the time is right and there is no intrusion he will disclose the cabinet lineup to the public.

“This government is a government of all Thai people and will not act behind their backs,” he said, adding information will be shared so as to get public feedback for the government to act accordingly.

When asked again about who is going to be appointed defence minister, Anutin replied, “Hey! Back to the same thing again.”

He also mentioned that there could be an important ceremony tomorrow (Sep. 7) with everything proceeding according to schedule and many things moving ahead as he had expected.

Anutin had earlier signed what was deemed as a bilateral agreement between the People’s and Bhumjaithai parties for himself to observe the People’s conditional support for his being named prime minister to the extent that he return power to the people by dissolving the House and calling a general election in four months after his government policy statement has been addressed at parliament and holding a public referendum for the people nationwide to decide whether the coup junta-designed constitution of 2017 should be amended as a whole by an elected Constitution Amendment Committee.
