A SURVEY of this summer’s travel trends by Booking.com shows that Bangkok is the fifth most popular destination for tourists worldwide, TV Channel 7 said today (Aug. 6).
Ms. Sasikan Wattanachan, deputy government spokesperson, said this ranking, based on search and booking data of millions of travellers worldwide, shows Bangkok remains popular with travellers from both Asia and around the world despite the ongoing Thai-Cambodian border conflict.
According to this survey the most popular destination is Hurghada in Egypt; followed by Sharm El Sheikh also in Egypt; Tokyo – Japan; and Dubai – United Arab Emirates.
Meanwhile tourism figures compiled by Thai authorities show that from January 1 to August 3, 2025, altogether 19,569,746 international tourists visited the country.
The top five countries in terms of number of tourists were China (2,733,160), Malaysia (2,700,103), India (1,390,693), Russia (1,124,467), and South Korea (918,372).
“The Thai government is ready to welcome tourists from around the world, confident in the value of Thai culture, excellent service, and international safety standards, ensuring that every trip in Thailand is an unforgettable experience,” Sasikarn said.
