Cambodian PM wants to raise disputed temples, border area with World Court

 

CAMBODIAN Prime Minister Hun Manet today (June 2) posted a message on Facebook that his country wants to raise three disputed ancient temples and a contested area to the International Court of Justice for a ruling, TV Channel 7 said.

In stating that Cambodia wants to resolve the border issues peacefully through technical mechanisms and international law, Hun Manet said he preparing to organise a meeting of the Thai-Cambodian Joint Border Committee (JBC) to consider raising the three disputed temples and a contested zone with the International Court of Justice,

The three temples are Prasat Ta Muen Thom, Prasat Ta Muen Tot, Prasat Ta Khwai (called Prasat Ta Krabey in Cambodian language) and Mombei area.

The two countries will discuss surveying and demarcating the border and placing boundary markers between the two countries in the hope that both parties will reach a satisfactory solution to prevent a new confrontation in future, Hun Manet said.
