Ayutthaya vendor unveils durian claw machine

A VENDOR in Ayutthaya has launched an eye-catching claw machine that offers the gamer a durian and not the usual stuffed toys or trinkets as a prize, and for just 10 baht a try the winner could walk away with a fruit costing 250 baht, TV Channel 7 said today (May 15).

Ms. Saranaya, 33, the owner of a Somin Quality Durian Shop, in Tha Ruea district said she had been thinking of ways to sell more durian and as there was a unused claw machine at home she decided to put it to use after seeing how popular this game is overseas.

Each durian in the machine, weighing at least 1.4 kilogrammes , costs 250 baht.

Her customers are keen on trying to pick up a durian to take home at 10 baht a go, but most will only spend 20-30 baht on the game. However, she pointed out that if they keep trying and spend up to 250 baht in lifting a durian they will definitely succeed in getting one.
