23 aftershocks since the 8.2 magnitude earthquake at 1.20 p.m.

THE THAI Meteorological Department said at 6.57 p.m. today (March 28) that there have been 23 aftershocks so far since the 8.2 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar’s Mandalay city at 1.20 p.m. Thai time, Naewna newspaper said.

The details of the aftershocks to this earthquake, which was first reported to be 7.3 on the Richter scale then 7.4 followed by 7.7 now 8.2, with a depth of 10 kilometres, are as follows:

Meanwhile Deputy Prime Minister/Defence Minister Phumtham Wechayachai went to inspect the building under construction in Chatuchak area that collapsed with the force of the powerful earthquake and said that three workers were dead while 81 are trapped in the demolished structure.

He held talks with officials from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, rescue foundations, military officers, project engineers and foremen on planning the rescue operation.
