BOTH DE FACTO Pheu Thai boss Thaksin Shinawatra and Privy Councillor Prayut Chan-a-cha did not appear at the high society wedding of Mr. Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, Ruam Thai Sang Chart’s deputy leader and party list MP, and Ms. Cathleen Maleenont, a third generation member of the Maleenont family who operate TV Channel 3, Amarin TV said this evening (Feb. 22).
Previously Thanakorn, whose party is under covert guidance of Prayut who had mounted a coup that ousted Thaksin’s sister/former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra in 2014, had said in a Facebook post that he had invited him to the wedding while Cathleen had invited Thaksin.
Even so several important figures attended the wedding at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel including Justice Minister Thavi Sodsong, Industry Ministry Akanat Promphan, Deputy Commerce Minister Suchart Chomklin, Democrat Party party-list MPs Jurin Laksanawisit and Banyat Bantadtan, former deputy interior minister Niphon Bunyamanee, Election Commission Secretary-General Sawang Boonmee, Chairman of Federation of Thai Industries Kriengkrai Thiennukul and Secretary-General to the Prime Minister Prommin Lertsuridej.
Also showing up was Mr. Chuwit Kamolvisit, a well-known former politician, who, while walking into the event, greeted the media and said, “I’m back.”
