THE Constitutional Court imposed tight security around Ratchaburi Direkrit Building within the Government Complex where it is located to ward off trouble tomorrow (Aug. 7) when it is due to deliver its verdict in a lawsuit to dissolve Move Forward Party, Naewna newspaper said this evening,
Only those who are authorised to work or contact the government can enter the building from 00.01 a.m. to 11.59 p.m. and they have to go through a body search with the items they are carrying too being inspected.
Also only those permitted to come to the court to hear the verdict will be allowed in and they have to exchange their ID card for a pass card and hand in their bags, mobile phones and other electronic devices as well as pass through a weapons checkpoint.
Metal barriers have been placed both around the building and within it to prevent any untoward incidents.
Metropolitan Division 2 and Thung Song Hong police station will be sending teams of policemen to guard the building just as they have done in the past when verdict of important cases were passed.
A large TV screen with loudspeakers has been set up to telecast the reading of the verdict for the media contingent and other members of the public who show up there. Others may follow this at the court’s YouTube channel from 3 p.m. onwards.
The Election Commission had lodged a petition to the Constitutional Court to consider dissolving Move Forward on charges of looking to undermine the rule of the country by having earlier sought amendment to the draconian lese majeste law, also known as Section 112 of the Criminal Code, which the party has strongly denied.
