THREE Pattaya pub guards who brutally bashed up two tourists apologised to the public for their lack of restraint with police gearing up to file charges against them under Business Security Act, Thai Rath newspaper said today (May 27).
Two clips of the severe beating the two foreign men holidaying in Pattaya suffered were shared by a Facebook user named “Nui voice AnyWay”.
Upon being arrested the three perpetrators, Mr. Krisana Chandmat, or Ball, 25, Mr. Chakarin Yanasak, or Ice, 23, and Mr. Phanuphong Chanuthai, or Tom, 36, admitted that they were the ones beating up the two tourists in these two video clips.
Krisana said they beat up the first tourist, wearing a white shirt in the video clips, after he punched him on his nose with this requiring six stitches.
Pol. Col. Col. Navin Thirawit, head of Pattaya police station, explained to them that their duty as guards is to ensure the security of tourists and not themselves cause a problem which damages Pattaya’s image.
However the two bashed up tourists have not yet filed a police complaint.
Reporters who viewed the two video clips said they show the three guards brutally assaulting the two tourists. They punched and kicked the foreigner wearing a white shirt until he fell on the ground. Even after that one of the three guards continued kicking him.
Another foreign tourist wearing a grey shirt who could not tolerate this brutal assault then stepped in to help him. However he too was heavily beaten up including being kicked in the face until he collapsed on the floor.
The three guards then turned to the man in white shirt and stomped on him in front of a lot of Thai and foreign tourists and bar workers.
They continued beating up the two men, including their face, even though onlookers urged them to stop. They kept it up despite the tourists holding their hands in a wai.
Reporters investigated this incident and were told by Ms. A, 38, a cashier at a bar in Naklua subdistrict, that before the punchup three foreign men came to drink there.
The first two paid their bills but the third man moved to sit elsewhere before walking out without paying his bill.
She then asked his two friends to pay his bill. The man in white shirt then said he had already paid his bill, but she explained that this is the bill for their friend. There is no problem about him paying up.
Ms. A added that the two tourists very rudely verbally abused her and accused the bar of cheating them. One of them grabbed another client’s mobile phone to call the police and she then called the guards in. After that one of the two tourists paid the 2,800 baht bill and they split up to go their separate ways.
However, the tourist in white shirt pushed one of the guards leading to the brawl.
