Voice TV ‘shutting down on May 31’

ANOTHER big shake-up in the media industry was reported today (Apr. 26) with the well-known Voice TV owned by de facto Pheu Thai boss Thaksin Shinawatra’s son Panthongtae “Oak” Shinawatra shutting down on May 31, 2024, Naewna newspaper and PPTVHD36 said.

Voice TV is a Thai television channel, notable for its liberal (except for one news programme hosted by Nattakorn Devakula) and pro-Thaksin stance and political-centric analysis. It is broadcast via digital terrestrial television (from 2014 until 2019), satellite, cable (as Video To Home 2), and web streaming. It was founded and currently owned by Panthongtae through Voice TV Co., Ltd. (formerly How Come Entertainment Co., Ltd.), according to Wikipedia.

Additional reports said Voice TV is preparing to lay off more than 100 employees in various departments and broadcast and distribution on all platforms to cease on May 31, 2024.

A Voice TV news anchor and programme host, Ms. Lakkana Punwichai, aka Khaek Kam Phaka, later said on her Facebook page that the CEO will be giving a press conference at 4:30 p.m. and she will continuing her programme till May 17, 2024.
