Rush to help S.Korean tourist who fainted after diving at Similan islands

 

OFFICIALS in southern coastal Phang Nga province rushed to help a South Korean tourist who lost consciousness and stopped breathing  after diving at Similan Islands National Park last night, Amarin TV said this morning (Mar. 25).

Phang Nga Port Security Control Centre was alerted at 7 p.m. last night that the South Korean tourist, Mr. Changdong Yang, 41, had upon coming up to change his clothes after diving at Island 8, Similan Islands National Park, lost consciousness and stopped breathing.

Park and security officials gave him first aid, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and inserted a breathing tube.

The tourist was then brought back by ambulance boat  which berthed at Thap Lamu pier, Thai Mueang district, at 9 p.m. and then taken to Khao Lak Medical Centre for treatment.
