Thais and foreigners brawl on Pattaya street

A STREET fight broke out between a group of Thais and some foreigners, believed to be Indians, in Pattaya early yesterday morning (Dec. 28) with a metre long stick, belts, glass bottles, a metal rod and ladles used in the riotous brawl, Amarin TV and TV Channel 7 said last evening.

Traffic came to a halt on Pattaya Beach road near Soi 13 as the two groups fought fiercely on the street despite young women screaming in fear.

An eyewitness who lives in this area told reporters that before the fight started a group of both Thai men and women were sitting drinking alcohol in this area.

Just then a group of foreign men and women walked by on the footpath across the street.

A foreign woman then crossed the street and attacked a Thai woman but when she started losing the fight, she called her friends to help, and they quickly dashed across and joined in.

The Thai men could not tolerate this so they too got up and started attacking the foreigners.

The eyewitness added that he does not know what triggered this violent brawl but it does damage Pattaya’s image.

The news team checked with Pattaya police but they said no one had come in to file a complaint.  However they will be chasing both groups and downloading surveillance camera clips as evidence in taking legal action against them.
