SURVEILLANCE camera clips at a hotel in Khon Kaen where famous former boxing champ Mr. Somrak Khamsing took a teen girl from a pub they earlier met show them walking in hand in hand and the girl not asking for help even though she later accused him of sexual assault, Matichon and Khao Sod newspapers said today (Dec. 12).
Somrak has denied raping the teen girl, mentioning that he did not even know she was just 17 years old, and is getting ready to appoint a lawyer to fight the case.
The hotel revealed that Somrak had checked in at 8 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 9 then left at 9 p.m. He returned at approximately 3 a.m. on Sunday Dec. 10 before checking out at 10 a.m.
The hotel management confirmed nothing untoward happened with there being no cry for help. Police also came and inspected the room and saw that it was in normal condition with the hotel unaware of the alleged sexual misconduct.
The hotel’s surveillance cameras showed Somrak and the teen girl, Ms. A (pseudonym), holding hands and he was not pulling her or harming her in any way. The camera in the lift showed Somrak pressing the button to go to the second floor and there was no resistance or cry for help. The camera on the second floor also showed the two of them walking hand in hand as they entered the room together.
Somrak, who won a gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics, said police had not summoned him for further questioning and that he is stressed out by the heavy media coverage of this incident while affirming he has not broken the law as he did not know the Ms. A was 17 years old as she looked like an adult.
Meanwhile a surveillance camera at Suksan Khon Kaen pub on Pracha Samran road, Khon Kaen city, recorded Ms. A, who is about 170 centimetres tall and was wearing a white strapless shirt and a short black skirt, entering the premises with three friends at 9.43 p.m. on Saturday, Sanook.com said.
While her three friends showed their ID cards, Ms. A told the guard she forgot to bring hers but showed an image of an ID card on her mobile phone to gain entrance.
Later Somrak and Ms. A hopped on a motorcycle that had come to pick him up and took the two of them to the hotel, with the pub management confirming the motorbike rider is not their guard nor employee.
