A VIDEO clip shared by a TikTok user showing a foreign tourist attacking a policeman with a skateboard while he hit back with his baton at Don Mueang Airport has drawn criticism of Thai police performance, Amarin TV said today (Aug. 10).
In the short video shared by TikTok member “@angpao.cn” yesterday the foreign man, who is Asian, went on a rampage using his skateboard to threaten a policeman.
The policeman then pulled out his retractable baton for self-defence and the two of them exchanged a blow.
However there were two other policemen present but this tourist did not attack them. They then persuaded the unruly tourist to calm down.
Other travellers at the airport were shocked to see the tourist and the policeman fighting.
This video clip attracted a lot of comments with most criticising the performance of Thai policemen who they said should have stopped the rampage sooner.
One person said, “Police didn’t do anything, very confused,” while another said, “From listening to the tourist, he was speaking Mandarin, he said ‘Ni Da Woah = You hit me’.”
Yet another said, “Waste of money, Thai police, but I understand the law protecting foreigners.”
A fourth netizen said, “This is dangerous – is this Thai police? How could they let this continue, they dither.”
