Every party’s vote-wooing roadside signs everywhere: Chaiwut

By Thai Newsroom Reporters

THE PALANG PRACHARATH party is not the only one that may currently have gigantic signs featuring the party’s top leader and logo set up along the roads in the provinces to muster popular support for the next general election, said Digital Economy & Society Minister Chaiwut Tanakhamanusorn today (Sept. 17).

Not only the largest coalition partner but many others have had huge roadside billboards virtually set up everywhere to make themselves better known to villagers in the provinces since the general election may be approaching, according to the Palang Pracharath minister.

His comments closely followed observation that a gigantic roadside sign featuring caretaker Prime Minister-cum-Palang Pracharath party leader Prawit Wongsuwan and the party’s logo has been erected in Nongbua Lamphu where he has officially visited today.

The contentious Palang Pracharath sign bears a catchphrase on state welfare cards, also known as “cards for the poor”, provided for some 20 million people out of the taxpayer’s money, an enlarged picture of the mask-wearing Prawit and the party’s logo.

However, the Highway Department has been taken to task for turning blind eye to the allegedly illicit use of the roadside plot of public land for the Palang Pracharath billboard.

Chaiwut said such vote-wooing roadside signs have appeared in every province throughout the country and dared those who may take legal action against his ruling party to do so against others as well.
