Santi denies he’s defecting from Palang Pracharath to Bhumjaithai

By Thai Newsroom Reporters

PALANG PRACHARATH party secretary-general Santi Prompat today (August 30) categorically ruled out a fresh hearsay that he might sooner or later opt out by defecting to Bhumjaithai Party.

Santi who concurrently performs as deputy finance minister said he viewed as “completely groundless” rumours that he might possibly defect from Palang Pracharath Party headed by caretaker Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan to Bhumjaithai Party led by Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.

The Palang Pracharath secretary-general reassured that he will definitely continue to work with Prawit’s camp and contest the next general election under the banners of the largest coalition partner.

Santi has replaced Thammanat Prompao as Palang Pracharath party secretary-general after the latter had left for Thai Economic Party where he has finally become top leader earlier this year.

Anutin considered the hearsay over the contemplated defection of Santi to his second largest coalition partner as “very unlikely” whilst, he said, Palang Pracharath Party and Bhumjaithai Party would rather compete against each other for MP seats especially in central and southern constituencies, among others, in the next election.
