FORMER Palang Pracharat MP Pareena Kraikupt, who was recently deprived by court of her MP status and banned for life from politics due to deliberate encroachment upon a forest reserve in Ratchaburi, blasted Bangkok governor election winner Chadchart Sittipunt for a comparison he made with Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, Naewna newspaper said today (May 23).
She lashed out at him for having said in an interview after scoring the landslide victory that “he got more votes than the Prime Minister.”
Pareena, largely known for usually speaking in defence of Prayut both inside and outside parliament, told Chadchart not to be foul-mouthed and that this showed the status of his leadership.
She dared him to not just talk but resign and compete against Prayut.
She also warned him to use the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s budget carefully.
However, Mr. Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office, said the Gen. Prayut congratulated Chadchart who has been entrusted to govern Bangkok, Matichon newspaper said.
“The Prime Minister confirmed that the government is ready to work with Mr. Chadchart and all members of his team to drive and develop all that is beneficial and useful for Bangkok residents.
“The government has a clear policy to further improve the quality of life of Bangkok residents. The Prime Minister stressed that no matter who is the governor, coming from whichever political party, he as Prime Minister is ready to work with them with national benefit being the priority,” he said.
