Bangkok back at the top of Covid list with 753 cases

 

WHILE Chonburi province overtook Bangkok and topped the list of 10 provinces with the most Covid cases for a few days since the start of the New Year, the capital moved back to the pole position today (Jan. 18) with 753 cases, Amarin TV said.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration said of the city’s total coronavirus cases today 609 were residents while 144 came here for treatment from other provinces with six cases being followed up.

The following are the 10 provinces with the most cases today with cumulative totals being from Jan. 1 to 11:

1) Bangkok 753 cases, altogether 10,700 cases;

2) Samut Prakan 598 cases, altogether 8,646 cases;

3) Chonburi 556 cases, altogether 12,096 cases;

4) Phuket 348 cases, altogether 5,630 cases;

5) Nonthaburi 281 cases, altogether 4,558 cases;

6) Khon Kaen 274 cases, altogether 4,163 cases;

7) Ubon Ratchathani 171 cases, altogether 5,685 cases;

8) Chiang Mai 155 cases, altogether 3,423 cases;

9) Nakhon Ratchasima 153 cases, altogether 1,759 cases;

10) Pathum Thani 136 cases, altogether 2,203 cases.

The top 10 districts with the most cases today are as follows:

1) Ratchathewi, 48 cases;

2) Prawet, 30 cases;

3) Khlong Sam Wa, 26 cases;

4) Bangkapi, 26 cases;

5) Laksi, 26 cases;

6) Bueng Kum, 25 cases;

7) Bangna, 23 cases;

8) Khan Na Yao, 22 cases;

9) Bangkok Noi, 22 cases;

10) Pathumwan, 19 cases.

The Public Health Ministry said there were 6,397 new Covid cases and 18 deaths over the 24 hours to this morning, taking the cumulative confirmed totals since Jan. 1 to 114,376 and the start of the pandemic 2,337,811.

Of today’s batch of cases 6,232 were domestic while 165 foreign arrivals tested positive.

Another 6,637 patients were cured taking total recoveries since Jan. 1 to  65,409 and since the start of the pandemic 2,233,903 with 81,952 patients still undergoing treatment.

Today’s 18 fatalities raised the death toll to 21,956.

From Feb 28, 2011 to Jan. 17, 2022 altogether 109,828,653 doses of vaccines have been administered.
