Health officials cancel concerts in Surin despite adjustment

ACTING on the Covid control measures of the Public Health Ministry Surin Province’s Communicable Disease Control Committee decided to suspend all the concerts that were to be held at the Chang fairground from today (Dec. 20) till Sunday Dec. 26, Matichon newspaper said.

This step was taken after the music concert by Pongsit “Pu” Kampee, a Thai rock singer, last Friday (Dec. 17) attracted around 50,000 people rather than the maximum 2,000 allowed. It ran for an hour from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. before being cancelled.

It was reported that the organisers of these concerts had tried to sway the committee by making adjustment with a key step being the placing over 500 chairs at correct social distance but to no avail.

The committee had earlier suspended concerts that were to be held over the weekend to give the organisers time to better control the events in keeping with the Covid control measures.
