A YOUNG backhoe operator in Pathum Thani province is deeply troubled after finding out that someone else had assumed his identity to get the two Covid jabs that were meant for him as he does not now know where to go to to get vaccinated, Amarin TV said this afternoon (Oct. 9).
Mr. Wichan Laptaku, 38, said he filed a complaint at Khlong Luang police station after finding out on Thursday when he went to the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organisation station at Future Park Rangsit department store to get his first Covid shot that the computer system stated he was already fully vaccinated.
It was revealed that a man named Supit (surname withheld) used his ID card number to get the first jab on August 13, 2021 and the second one on September 10, 2021 at a hospital in Kamphaeng Phet province.
Wichan said he was greatly troubled because he was afraid this person might now use his ID card number to commit crime.
Moreover he does not now know where to go to get vaccinated and it would be a burden for him if he had to pay a private hospital for the shots as money is hard to find these days.
He urged relevant authorities to help him.
Meanwhile the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said there were 10,630 coronavirus cases and 73 deaths in the 24 hours to this morning (Oct. 9).
Of this new batch of cases 9,881 were among the general public, 673 were found through proactive search in communities, 67 got infected in prisons and detention centres while nine overseas arrivals tested positive.
This takes the cumulative confirmed total since the start of the pandemic to 1,700,067.
Another 10,542 patients were cured taking total recoveries from the onset of the pandemic to 1,572,332 while 110,128 are still undergoing treatment with 2,967 in serious condition and 677 using ventilators.
Today’s 73 fatalities raised the death toll from last year to 17,607.
