3 Covid clusters emerge in Chiang Mai as daily tally reaches 11,140 cases

 

CHIANG MAI issued an alert this morning (Oct. 8) for all those who visited three establishments to immediately get tested for coronavirus infection and observe their symptoms amid a national daily count of 11,140 cases and 116 deaths, Siam Rath newspaper and Amarin TV said.

Authorities in the northern city announced that the clusters of infection had been found at Asian Taekwondo School, Education Zone in Central Festival Chiang Mai department store and Good Bar at Icon Park.

Meanwhile the Public Health Ministry this morning stated that of the 11,140 new Covid cases 11,068 were among the general public and 72 in prisons and detention centres. This takes the cumulative confirmed total from April 1 to 1,660,574.

Another 9,933 patients recovered taking total recoveries from April 1 to 1,534,364 while 110,113 are still undergoing treatment.

Today’s 116 fatalities took the death toll since April 1 to 17,440.

Chiang Mai yesterday had 89 new cases with seven of them coming from other provinces including one each from Bangkok  Samut Prakan and Chonburi and  two each from Tak and Mae Hong Son.

Of the 82 infected within the province  11 had contact with an infected person while 10 people in six families caught the infection together. Another seven cases are being investigated.
