THE Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said this morning (April 27) that the 24-hour Covid death toll reached a record 15 fatalities taking the total to 163 while there were 2,179 new cases with 169 patients requiring ventilators, Thai Rath newspaper said.
Meanwhile 52 provinces have followed Bangkok in imposing the mandatory face mask rule with those caught not wearing one in public facing 20,000 baht fine.
Except for five overseas arrivals who were quarantined, all of today’s 2,174 cases were domestic with this taking the cumulative confirmed total to 59,687. Of the domestic cases, 2,149 emerged in service systems and 25 were found through proactive search in communities.
There are currently 25,973 patients under treatment with 20,308 being in hospitals and 5,665 in field hospitals. Altogether 33,551 patients have been cured.
The 52 province that are strictly imposing the face mask rule with those caught not wearing one in public places or outside their home facing maximum 20,000 baht fine are as follow:
