CCSA decides against declaring Covid red zone

THE Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) decided not to declare Bangkok and four adjacent provinces a red zone despite a request from the Public Health Ministry to do so, Sanook.com said today (April 7).

On Monday the ministry’s Centre for Action during a Public Health Emergency Committee held an urgent meeting and proposed that Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan and Nakhon Pathom provinces be declared a red zone because of a spike in coronavirus cases.

However CCSA passed a resolution to maintain the situation as is with no maximum control to be imposed. However Bangkok and the provincial governors were told to determine appropriate measures to monitor the spread of Covid-19.

Later this afternoon it was reported that Public Relations Department Director-General Lt. Gen. Sansern Kaewkamnerd has contracted coronavirus and is being examined. All those who had close contact with him are being called in to undergo a test.
