HOT on the heels of news spreading that Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob has contracted coronavirus the Royal Thai Police revealed that nine policemen attached to Thonglor station too had got infected, Siam Rath newspaper said today (April 7).
Pol. Lt .Gen. Phakphong Phongphetra, head of the Metropolitan Police, said nine out of 184 policemen at Thonglor station who had been tested for coronavirus got positive results while 22 other policemen close to them have been quarantined for observation.
While their absence does affect the performance of Thonglor police station, Pol. Lt .Gen. Phakphong said he is confident this station will be able to function normally.
Meanwhile Transport Minister Saksayam said a blood test at Buriram Hospital where he was admitted this morning confirmed that he had contracted coronavirus. He went to the hospital in the morning on his doctor’s advice after his temperature soared to 38 degrees Celsius.
There was also tight health control at Parliament today as three senators had attended a banquet at the Japanese embassy on March 22 with the ambassador now undergoing treatment for Covid-19.
However the three senators, Mr. Somchai Sawangkarn, Mrs. Phikul Kaewkririkk and Mr. Sompon Kiatpaibun, got negative results at the rapid test station in the Parliament. This test was performed on a voluntary basis.
In addition, Covid vaccination registration point was set up for representatives and senators to sign in with the latter to get jabs first starting tomorrow.
