Alcohol checkpoints make a comeback – D-Day April 1

NATIONAL Police Chief Pol. Gen. Suwat Jangyodsuk today (March 23) issued an order for all police stations in Bangkok to again start setting up checkpoints from April 1 onwards, Amarin TV said.

All the police stations were ordered to work out a plan on the locations of the checkpoints, the policemen who will be manning them and their supervisors and ensure that they are in place every seven or 15 days or once a month.

Police have also been told to set up secret checkpoints to catch motorcyclists who break the law, 

In choosing the locations of all types of checkpoints risk factors such as frequent accidents or frequent traffic violations should be taken into consideraton.In addition traffic conditions, the objective of setting up the checkpoint and the safety of road users also carry weight, the National Police Chief said.
