THERE were 809 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours to this morning (Feb. 4) with 796 emerging domestically and 13 travellers arriving from overseas and this increased the cumulative total to 22,058, Siam Rath newspaper said.
Dr. Taweesilp Visanuyothin, spokesman of Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), said most of today’s cases, altogether 751, were found through proactive screening taking the total from this ongoing process to 12,298.
No additional deaths were reported with the toll remaining at 79. Another 797 patients have been cured, taking this total to 14,798, while 7,181 remain hospitalized.
In the ongoing new wave of coronavirus infections there has been a total of 17,821 cumulative confirmed cases from December 15 till today February 4. Altogether 10,858 patients have recovered while 6,944 remain hospitalized and 19 died.
Of today’s 796 domestic cases, 45 were found through surveillance and serrvice systems with some either having visited risky areas or holding risky professions or having touched an infected individual.
Proactive search in communities found another 751 cases.
Of the 13 foreign travellers who have all been quarantined, two came from the US while one each from Israel, Malaysia, Pakistan, the UK, UAE, Russia, Ethiopia, Germany, Belgium, Spain and France.
