THE operators of the swanky downtown shopping malls Emporium and EmQuartier today (Dec. 24) announced the cancellation of their Funtastic Countdown to 2021 event while reducing to appropriate level The Magical Christmas activities during Dec. 24-27 due to the new outbreak of Covid-19, Amarin TV reported this afternoon (Dec. 24).
This is for the safety of customers, tourists, staff and employees working nearby.
Despite the countdown many people had been waiting for being cancelled, the two shopping malls are still carefully holding their Winter Wonderland: The Candy Colony festivities with social distancing in place. The key activities are as follows:

– The Happy Candy Troop activity with Mascot the Candy Colony spreading lots of fun during Dec. 23-Jan. 3 but with social distancing in place;
– The Live Band will also be performing at both malls to spread happiness as customers shop for Christmas and New Year gifts.
However those yearning for countdown fun could go down to the river as Iconsiam is continuing with its spectacular Amazing Thailand Countdown 2021 firework extravaganza.
Hosted by Tourism Authority of Thailand this event at the posh riverside mall will see as many as 20,000 fireworks soaring up to illuminate the sky as world enters the year 2021.
There will be seven acts of magnificent fireworks on the concept of “Seven Wonders of Blessings”, all illustrating the rich heritage of Thai history, the kingdom’s prosperity, the nation, religion, monarchy, and the agricultural abundance due to the expanse of water, as well as paying respect to the royal institution that has overseen the happiness of the people for a long time.
