JUST days after a man nicknamed Jack randomly stabbed women and children while riding around Udon Thani city on a motorcycle killing two persons and injuring six another slashing attack took place last night with the victim this time being a GrabFood delivery woman, Amarin TV reported today (Dec. 13).
The knife attack occurred in Soi Kitkhayan area which opens up to Si Thep traffic light intersection with the delivery woman slashed while she was riding through to deliver food in the neighbourhood. She only realised she had a wound on her upper right arm that required two stitches to close after completing her task.
The news of what appears to be a copycat attack spread quickly on social media triggering panic among the residents of this city.
This morning Amarin TV reporters went to the scene of the crime and discovered that it is a narrow alley that does not have electric lights and is used as a shortcut between Watthana Nuwong and Udon Dusadee roads. They did not spot any policemen there during their visit.
However they got to talk to Ms. Amphai Prompinit, 59, who lives in the area and she said she returns home from trading at 10 p.m. almost every night and was shocked to hear of the second slashing attack.
She pointed out that the area of the attack is quite dark and urged the municipality to install some lights. She also requested that the police patrol the area more frequently.
Meanwhile Pol. Lt. Col. Akapol Yikoh, head of Udon Thani police station, said his team had collected surveillance camera clips and were now chasing the criminal.
