ONE of the leaders of the People’s Party, Mr. Parit Chivarak, or Penguin, declared victory after the huge throng of demonstrators reached the entrance of 11th Infantry Regiment headquarters this evening (Nov. 29) and also announced the confiscation of the military complex for the people, Naewna newspaper reported.
The protesters had marched to this military headquarters from Bang Khen fire station near Wat Phra Sri Mahathat BTS station where they had assembled, bringing their yellow ducks along with them. A large number of policemen holding shields were guarding the entrance to the army complex.
Penguin said he has a new sign to give to the soldiers and policemen and they could see it from within the complex.
“We have come to reclaim our national treasure, if a soldier calls himself a soldier, he must be a soldier of the country, and country means every citizen, soldiers must belong to the country then only can they be called soldiers,” he said.
Before marching to the 11th Infantry Regiment headquarters Penguin turned towards Wat Phra Sri Mahathat temple and asked the spirits of the leaders of the 1932 revolution and the Red Shirt followers who died in the 2010 military crackdown to protect the demonstrators and lead them to success in overthrowing feudalism.
