SCB shuts head office for a day as protesters switch venue

SIAM Commercial Bank (SCB) posted a message at 7.30 a.m. this morning (Nov. 25) announcing the closure of its Ratchayothin head office for one day today to avoid a protest, Amarin TV reported.

People’s Party leaders have shifted their demonstration from the Crown Property Bureau to SCB head office and will be assembling there at 3 p.m.

SCB apologized for any inconvenience caused by today’s closure and advised its customers they could either process their transactions through other channels or at any nearby branch as usual.

Reporters at this bank’s head office said access was not blocked this morning but the bank was installing more surveillance cameras while police had stacked up  some steel panels within the compound.

Security guards were stationed at all entrances and exits to maintain orderliness as usual while some bank staff had come to the complex.

Meanwhile it was reported that the authorities had placed several containers to close the road heading to Makkhawan Rangsan Bridge and the Crown Property Bureau this morning with this paralysing the traffic in this area.
