DEMONSTRATORS at three key areas of Bangkok, Lat Phrao intersection, Wong Wiang Yai and Udom Suk station, started dispersing close to 8 p.m. this evening (Oct. 17) as urged to do so by their leaders after giving the three-finger salute and singing the national anthem, Thai Rath newspaper reported.
There was a slight disturbance at Lat Phrao five-way intersection after word spread that a water truck was seen coming down Saphan Kwai road.
The protesters retreated to the rear of Central Department Store but the situation soon returned to normal as no truck showed up.
A little while earlier Mr. Thatthep Ruangprapaikitseree, or Ford, secretary-general of the Free People group, announced that all demonstrators should go home at 8 p.m. for the safety of everyone and to avoid any violence.
It is noteworthy that no leaders showed up at any of the three protest sites with this being in keeping the People’s Party strategy that all its followers are leaders.
Meanwhile Sanook.com reported that the rally at Wong Wian Yai ended at 6.40 p.m. At 6.12 p.m. students started preparing paraphernalia to protect themselves after it was reported that a water truck was heading their way.
