Lopburi gold shopper robber-killer gets death

A DIRECTOR of an elementary school who killed three persons including a two-year-old toddler and injured four others while robbing a gold shop in Lopburi province  in January this year was today (August 27) sentenced to death without reprieve because he poses a danger to society, Siam Rath newspaper reported.

Mr. Prasittichai Khaokaew, or Golf, was brought to the Criminal Court on Ratchadapisek Road at 8.30 a.m. to hear the verdict in the robbery of Aurora gold shop in Robinson Department Store at Lopburi province that led to three people, including a two-year-old toddler, being shot dead with a 9mm pistol fitted with a silencer on January 9 this year.

The defendant’s relatives were present for the verdict.

According to the prosecutor’s case filed on February 20, 2020 the defendant rode to Robinson department store the night of January 9 armed with the 9mm pistol and carrying some bullets in an holster and first shot dead a guard, Mr. Theerachat Nimma, after that four other persons, injuring them.

He then went into Aurora gold shop and shot dead the shop’s worker Ms. Thidarat Thongthip, and two-year-old Phanuwit Wongyoo who was walking pass the shop.

He grabbed 22 one-baht weight gold chains, 11 half-baht weight gold chains worth 664,470 baht and rode off on his motorcycle.

However police investigators tracked down the defendant and recovered many gold chains. He has pleaded guilty throughout the legal procedure.
