PRIME MINISTER Prayut Chan-o-cha and a small team of officials are flying out to Rayong in a single helicopter at 4.30 p.m. today (July 15) to personally inspect the situation at this coastal province after an infected Egyptian soldier stayed there last week, Sanook.com reported this afternoon.
He will be inspecting D Varee Diva Central Hotel and Passione Shopping Destination, formerly known as Laemthong, where the 43-year-old infected Egyptian soldier stayed and visited, and will also be meeting the people at a wet market.
He will be personally monitoring the performance of public health officials in investigating the renewed occurrence of this disease and their testing of the people for this infection and will encourage them in the performance of their duty.
This incident has heavily impacted Rayong’s tourism business.
Earlier Gen. Prayut said at one point of the “BCG Seminar : Driving Economic Development to Sustainable Development” that the Covid-19 situation is collapsing worldwide not just in Thailand with other Asean countries too facing problems.
He urged everyone to maintain discipline, stay attentive and be sympathetic to the people working to control this pandemic since January. People must not just be receivers but also givers – that is give cooperation, reduce problems and the burden for officials and also reduce the need to enforce the law.
He also joked that he is not going to say a lot because he is tired after being hit by an airplane yesterday, an Egyptian Military Airline jet came and hit him, while confirming that everyone is working on resolving the problem and not to worry.
