Chinese gamblers nabbed in Pattaya raid

By Thai Newsroom Reporters

NINE CHINESE nationals were arrested on emergency rule-breaking and gambling charges in Pattaya last night, police said.

The police raided a house in Jomtien area of the beach resort city and rounded up the poker-playing Chinese males, aged between 30 and 42 years.

The Chinese nationals were charged with breaking emergency rule by assembling up to gamble and failing to observe social distancing order.

One of the nine suspects was faced with an overstaying charge, the police said.

Pattaya has been mostly visited by Thai holidaymakers since no international flights are as yet allowed to land at any airports including a nearby U-tapao airport under the country’s lockdown measures.
