Chiang Mai police nab three in huge drug bust

POLICE IN CHIANG MAI province seized a record haul of speed pills on the way to the interior of the country in the wee hours today (May 30).

A total of 14 million methamphetamine tablets, contained in 77 fertilizer bags, were seized from a pickup truck parked at a hotel in Fang district, said deputy police spokesman Pol Col Krissana Pattanacharoen.

Three suspected drug traffickers, one female, two males, were arrested at the hotel where they were spending the night at about midnight. The suspects were identified as Nisamon Samaknarong, Suthat Noanthong and Yodrak Klangna, Pol Col Krissana said.

The speed pills were smuggled across the Thai-Myanmar border in Fang district and destined for the interior of the country, he said. The exact venue for delivery of the drugs was not available to disclose, however.
