Villagers hang motorcycles from trees to protect them from floodwaters

GOING viral is a video that a village headman in Chachoengsao province shared online showing how a family had cleverly used ropes to hoist five motorcycles up trees outside their flood home to protect them from floodwaters, Amarin TV said this evening (Oct. 9).

Floods have forced residents to urgently move their belongings to higher ground, but when it comes to villagers in Bang Khla district, the approach is anything but ordinary. 

A Tiktok user, going by the name  “Boydyslam_ketkaew”, who is the village headman of Moo 4, Khu Yai Mi subdistrict, Sanam Chai Khet district, visited flood victims at ​​Ban Nam Cha village  in Bang Khla district to provide aid and was amazed to see five motorbikes hanging from trees.

This family had hoisted five entire motorcycles up trees using pulley-like rigging technique. They securely tied the motorbikes to the branches, keeping them safely away from the floodwaters with this astounding onlookers.

Residents of this province are scrambling to manage a massive surge of floodwaters that overflew Bang Rong sluice gate and inundated low-lying areas. Authorities have mobilised high-capacity water pumps and weed-clearing boats to push the floodwaters into the Bang Pakong river.
