FORMER Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt is returning to the chair he vacated to contest for a second term in the gubernatorial and city council elections today (June 28) as unofficial results show that with 94.99% of the votes counted at 9.29 p.m. he has obtained 1,444,914 votes, Amarin TV and Naewna newspaper said.
Chadchart, who is running as an independent, also broke his previous record set in 2022, in which he received 1,386,233 votes.
The other top five candidates are as follows:
– Ms. Mallika Boonmeetrakool Mahasuk 288,171 votes;
– Mr. Chaiwat Sathawornwichit (People’s Party) 176,934 votes;
– Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri (Democrat Party) 101,819 votes;
– M.L. Kornkasiwat Kasemsri (independent) 45,598 votes.
