FOR the second day in a row the Oil Fuel Fund committee resolved to reduce the subsidy for diesel this time by 3.51 baht/litre to 14.27 baht/litre, resulting in an increase in the retail price at petrol pumps by 3.50 baht/litre to 47.74 baht/litre tomorrow, PPTVHD36 said this evening (April 2).
In an announcement made at approximately 5.34 p.m. the panel said it is also reducing the subsidy for biodiesel B20 by 3.48 baht/litre to 16.64 baht/litre, resulting in a hike in the retail price at filling stations by 3.50 baht/litre to 42.74 baht/litre tomorrow.
Meanwhile the Transport Department has approved 5 satang per kilometre bus fare hike and 2 baht per 100 kilometres rise for passenger vans.
Mr. Thitipat Thaijongrak, the department’s spokesperson, said the fare increase was necessary because there had not been adjustments for a long time, coupled with the latest fuel price hike.
This would also prevent operators from reducing services or not delivering freight because it was no longer cost-effective especially during the upcoming Songkran Festival.
