2 popular radio stations shutting down at yearend

 

A BELLWEATHER for a decline in the radio industry is Tero Radio Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Tero Entertainment Plc, announcing that it is shutting shop at yearend 2025 with this meaning international music station Eazy FM and the Thai pop music station Goodtime Radio will go off air, MNG Online said this afternoon (Dec. 27).

In folding its business after 35 years of producing radio programmes, the company said: “Tero Radio Co., Ltd. would like to announce its closure at the end of this year, after 35 years of operation. Unfortunately, due to shifting trends in media consumption we have faced significant challenges that have made it impossible for us to continue.”

The company’s Eazy FM 102.5 radio station has been broadcasting since 1994 via a Thai Air Force frequency while Goodtime Radio has been broadcasting simultaneously in four provinces: FM 88.5 Bangkok, FM 88 Chiang Mai, FM 94.5 Songkhla, and FM 104 Ubon Ratchathani.

In addition, the company also produces two online radio brands: Hitz Thailand, a Thai pop music station operating since 2002 (originally a radio station before transitioning to online), and Tofupop Radio, an Asian music station operating since 2010.

Information from the Commerce Ministry’s Department of Business Development shows that Tero Radio Co., Ltd. was registered on July 9, 2002, with a registered capital of 100 million baht. Mr. Brian Lindsey Margar and Mr. Neil Wayne Thompson are the company directors.

In 2024, the company obtained total revenue of 99,182,298.00 baht and a net profit of 1,813,709.00 baht. However it suffered losses in two preceding years with this totalling 16,668,325.00 baht  2023 out of 94,900,942.00 baht revenue and  22,459,513.00 baht in 2022 out of 83,947,698.00 baht revenue.
