AFTER a successful exhibition last year, renowned Thai-born-Indian artist Asoke Aryapratheep unveiled a new collection of his paintings entitled ‘”Mirage” at Supples Gallery in Charoenkrung Soi 43 last evening (Dec. 13).
Speaking at the well-attended opening reception, Asoke said he was inspired to work hard and put together this new collection after having sold 25 paintings at last year’s exhibition which was entitled “Suggestions” and was his first solo exhibition at a gallery in over a decade.
By popular demand he has shifted from smaller-scale collages to a larger canvas but there are some stunning small compositions on show.
Asoke, who studied Fine Art at Carlisle College of Art and Nottingham College of Art with his work having also been exhibited in New Delhi, and Berlin, said Mirage deepens his inquiry into the fluid boundaries between reality and illusion.
In this new series, he has constructed layered worlds where suggestive forms, bursts of colour, and faint architectural outlines intermingle, creating scenes that feel at once spatially grounded and dreamlike. These compositions evoke the sensation of glimpsing familiar structures through shifting light or memory-never fixed, always on the verge of transforming.
This exhibition is on show at this gallery till Jan. 18, 2026.
