A RED flag was raised at Pattaya’s Regional Harbour Office today (Nov. 22) prohibiting small boats and speedboats from leaving the shore after a fishing boat capsized yesterday with 15 tourists and the captain rescued after floating in the sea for seven hours, TV Channel 7 said.
However despite strong winds and two- to three-metre high waves passenger boats are still sailing to Koh Larn with a large number of tourists, both Thai and foreign, heading to the popular island.
Operators of these passenger boats were urged to exercise caution while sailing and ensure that the tourists wear the mandatory life jacket. Pattaya City officials are also strictly monitoring the piers to ensure their safety.
