Free admission to Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles

 

IN MEMORY of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother who passed away on Friday night (Oct. 24) the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles is offering free admission from today (Oct. 27) onwards, TV Channel 7 said.

Located within the Grand Palace, this museum, which is open from 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. with last admission being at 3.30 p.m., enables visitors to learn about Her Majesty the Queen Mother’s contribution to art and culture and preservation of Thai handicrafts plus development of people’s livelihood.

Displayed are “Thai Costumes: From Royal Court to Royal Preference,” which showcase eight styles of royal Thai clothing worn by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and international royal outfits tailored from Thai fabrics from 1960 to 2000.

Meanwhile Pattaya City Mayor Poramase Ngampichet said that this year’s International Fireworks Festival is being held as scheduled during Nov. 28-29 but the format has been adjusted in honour of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother and appropriateness.

The event will feature a Khon performance which Her Majesty the Queen Mother wished to preserve for the Thai nation, an orchestra performing royal compositions and projection of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s images performing royal duties on stage. 

Participants will observe a minute silence to express their condolences followed by a special fireworks display, “Light of Loyalty, Remains in Our Hearts Forever.”
