Cambodia assents to all 4 agreements tabled by Thailand at key meeting

 

THE second Thai-Cambodian General Border Committee (GBC) meeting held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, today (Oct. 23) ended quickly with Cambodia easily acquiescing to all four agreements presented by Thailand, Amarin TV said

 Thai Defence Minister Gen. Nattapol Nakphanit said after the meeting ended at 10.45 a.m. that the four pacts the two countries agreed to are as follows:

1/ Both sides have worked out and signed terms of reference (TOR) for the withdrawal of heavy weapons, with strict monitoring by the Interim Observer Team (IOT);

2/Cambodia has responded seriously to clearing anti-personnel landmines along the border and is ready to begin immediately;

3/ A joint crackdown on scammers is being launched with the police from both countries to establish a bilateral force to arrest scam leaders and assist victims;

4/ Regarding Ban Nong Chan and Nong Ya Kaeo villages in Sa Kaeo province, both sides will jointly survey claimed territory, and Thailand will begin constructing a permanent fence at the clearly defined boundary.
