DE FACTO Pheu Thai boss Thaksin Shinawatra who has been in jail since Sep. 9 to serve a one-year sentence is scheduled to meet a psychologist while his daughters accompanied by their husbands visited him this morning (Sep. 18), Amarin TV said.
The billionaire former prime minister was ordered back to jail by the Supreme Court as his six-month-long fakeout at Police Hospital until his release on parole early last year did not hold up. He was moved from Bangkok Remand Prison to Klong Prem Central Prison the very first day.
Ms. Kanokwan Jiwchuephan, director of Nonthaburi Provincial Prison and deputy spokesperson for the Department of Corrections, revealed that the prison plans to have Thaksin meet with a psychologist today, as part of a routine health screening.
Regarding his daily routine, he typically wakes up around 6.00 a.m. and goes to bed around 9.30 p.m. He continues to eat boiled and soft-boiled eggs for breakfast. During the day, he engages in activities such as reading, watching TV and swinging his arms for exercise.
His family has deposited a maximum 15,000 baht for his use at not more than 500 baht a day. He has mostly purchased small food stuff.
Meanwhile his daughters, former prime minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and her sister Ms. Pinthongtha Shinawatra Kunakornwong along with their husbands Mr. Pitaka Suksawat and Mr. Nuttaphong Kunakornwong visited him for 15 minutes.
Afterward Paetongtarn told the media that their visit was short because Thaksin was not feeling well and it was difficult to converse through the bars.
Regarding his overall condition, she said that he had not slept well last night and even after having a short haircut his hair is still falling out due to lack of sleep and stress about blood pressure. However, he is able to talk, smile and remains in fine spirits.
Pinthongtha brought a letter which she wrote on behalf of his seven grandchildren encouraging their grandfather and if possible will write one every month.
Red Shirt followers gathered there gave a photo to give to Thaksin and also an amulet to Paetongtarn, telling her, “Keep it with you, so you can return to greatness.”
