A TWO-MONTH-OLD baby girl was mauled to death by a pit bull at a house in Uthai Thani province this afternoon (Sep. 16) where her parents, who are junk dealers, had come to buy some second-hand goods, Amarin TV said this evening.
At 2.40 p.m. police at Khao Bang Kraek station, Nong Chang district, were alerted of this tragic death and a team quickly went to the house where the baby was killed.
However when they arrived they saw that the pit bull was still roaming free within the compound of the house and refused to get out of the vehicle until the unidentified owner tied up the animal.
At the scene they saw a baby carry cot and three toys in the yard with bloodstains trailing six metres to the drain.
The dog owner told the police team that she had called Mr. Dusit, a junk dealer, to come and buy some old stuff and he brought his wife, Ms. Kanthima, and two-month-old daughter with him.
They left the baby in the carry cot with the toys in the yard as they collected the second-hand goods and packed them in old fertiliser bags.
She came out to oversee the packing with her pit ball, named Big, following her and also sniffed at the baby. She walked back into the house with Big following her but moments later he came out and grabbed the baby and took her to the drain.
She rushed out and told him to let go of the baby and he did. The parents then took her to the hospital where she later died.
