A HOSPITAL in Ubon Ratchathani province this morning (July 21) announced it is suspending admission of Cambodian patients from today July 31 till August 10 while the government revealed that many other hospitals and medical facilities along the border had been damaged by Cambodian rocket and gunfire, Naewna newspaper said this morning.
Sapphasitthiprasong Hospital said while it has been providing medical care to both Thai and international patients, including Cambodians, due to the unrest along the Thai-Cambodian border which impacts national security it will not admit any new Cambodian patients during this period.
Moreover, it will also stop dispensing medicine to those asking to receive them in place of Cambodian patients and stop Khmer translators and volunteers working in its premises until August 10.
Khmer patients still being treated at this hospital will be placed in a restricted area.
Meanwhile Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, a government spokesperson, strongly condemned the Cambodian military for firing at Thai medical facilities in many areas along the border with this action violating basic humanitarian principles and is a clear violation of international law.
