A DEPUTY BATTALION commander has been immediately transferred after complaints surfaced that he has been using conscripts to work as riders and pocketing all the money they earned, Amarin TV said this evening (May 14).
ACM Prapass Sonjai, the spokesman of the air force, said the unidentified deputy battalion commander of Wing 23 in Udon Thani province who was accused in a news report of using conscripts to work as riders to drop off passengers (GrabBike) for personal gain has been temporarily transferred to pave way for a transparent investigation.
This is to prevent the senior officer from influencing witnesses or the investigation process which was ordered by the commander of Wing 23.
The law and military discipline will be strictly adhered to if investigation ascertains that wrongdoing occurred.
Air Force Commander ACM Punpakdee Pattanakul has a clear policy to take care of the welfare, rights and dignity of conscripts to the best of his ability. He has instructed commanders at all levels to treat their subordinates with responsibility and ethics, and not to violate or take advantage of them.
