Rangsiman quashes rumour of wearing pricy Rolex watch

PEOPLE’S Party MP Rangsiman Rome immediately quashed a rumour that he is wearing a Rolex watch worth 500,000 baht as alleged in a Facebook post pointing out that this watch is in fact a Seiko which his wife gave him, Naewna newspaper said this evening (Apr. 27).

This Facebook page posted a photo of Rangsiman wearing this watch and said in the message: “Today what did the Orange party lie about?” This was accompanied by a livestreaming about the watch in question.

The writer then posted another message: ““Everyone, Brother Rome has never done any real work since graduating, except for being a protest leader. When he became an MP, he declared his assets totaling 13 million baht. When looking at his asset statement, there was no information about the Rolex watch worth more than 500,000 baht that he wore on the livestreaming. Is it the same model? Please ask Brother Rome.”

Later Rangsiman clarified this issue in a message saying he did not think he would have to address such nonsense.

“At first, I saw some pages spinning this story, I didn’t want to say anything because there is no basis to it. And I know that some people don’t care about the truth anyway. They want to spread false stories,” he said.

However, once a major online media played up this story without having called him or got a watch expert to check what model he was wearing he had to speak up.

“I can accept that people hate me. I think I have to continue working on my thinking. But if they want to use false stories to slander and attack me, to incite people to hate me, I won’t accept it.

“In short, please respect Seiko,” he wrote.
