THE Cabinet today (Dec. 17) approved exemption of toll fees on Burapha Withi Expressway (Bang Na-Bang Pakong) and Kanchanaphisek Expressway (Bang Phli-Suk Sawat) – plus motorways No. 7 and No. 9 for eight days during New Year holidays, Amarin TV said.
To speed up travel and ensure the safety of people no toll fees will be collected on the two expressways from midnight Dec. 26, 2024 till midnight Jan. 2, 2025, Mr. Anukul Prueksanusak, deputy government spokesperson, said,
A total of 2,659,056 vehicles are expected to use the two expressways during these eight days which will lead to the Expressway Authority of Thailand losing approximately 96 million baht in revenue. However there will be approximately 113.9 million baht in economic benefit.
The Cabinet also approved a waiver of toll fees for motorists using motorways No. 7 and No. 9 during the eight-day New Year celebration.
Motorway No. 7 connects Bangkok to Chonburi, Pattaya, and Map Ta Phut while Motorway N. 9 is the outer ring road of Bangkok.
While this will lead to the government losing approximately 207.8 million baht in revenue, it will gain economic benefit totalling approximately 448 million baht, which is assessed from cost savings from using vehicles and reduced travel time.
