Transvestite hunted in brutal murder of student

POLICE are hunting for a transvestite in the brutal murder of a young university student who was badly assaulted before his body was set on fire at a dormitory in Bang Khen subdistrict, Nonthaburi city district, yesterday (Aug. 7), Amarin TV said today.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Prathana Phaenpha, Nonthaburi provincial police chief, and Pol. Col. Phisuth Chanthornsuwan, head of Rattanathibet police station, said after a meeting on this case that a transvestite who studied in the same university as the victim, Mr. Wisaw (surname withheld), or Sun, 22, is wanted for his murder.

He was identified from some hair found in the victim’s hand.

The suspect rode off on a motorcycle he stole from their university in Vibhavadi Soi 25 and then parked it near Bang Sue train station.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Prathana said more progress is being made and an arrest warrant will likely be issued for the suspect today.

It is uncertain why he murdered a fellow student, this might have arisen from a fight, but investigators have still to find out what belongings are missing from the room as there was a power cut when they first visited it and everything was scattered all around.

However the hair found in the victim’s hand points to a fight and right now investigators are going through surveillance camera clips to track down the suspect.
